Cherokee Story on the Origin of Medicine

This is a five minute silent video story book with subtitles that encourages students to read and interpret visual information using images from nature.  The "Cherokee Story on the Origin of Medicine" captures the Native American philosophy, religion and perspective and explains the ecology movement, a native American innovation introduced to the world.  

There are multiple opportunities to discuss several subjects brought up in the 5 minute movie which is designed to help calm children and increase their environmental awareness.  The story is captivating and children will wonder "what will happen next?" during the viewing.  After the film, it will fundamentally change their perspective of the world by introducing critical thinking around humans, animals, fish, plants and our sharing of the planet we all inhabit.

Many people who graduate college in America resent that they did not get exposure to the rich history of the first nations and how their existence is the foundation of all that we enjoy today.  In addition, it has been widely acknowledged that the environment and dwindling resources will be the most pressing challenges for today's children as they become adults.
